About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to have Sarah, an expert in sustainable events and the instructor of the Advanced Skill Certificate in Sustainable Concerts. Sarah, can you tell us a bit about your experience with sustainable concerts? GUEST: Absolutely, I've spent over a decade working in the events industry, and I've seen firsthand the need for more sustainable practices. I've had the privilege of implementing many of these strategies at major concerts and festivals. HOST: That's fantastic. And what would you say are some of the current trends in the industry when it comes to sustainability? GUEST: There's a growing emphasis on reducing carbon footprints, managing waste responsibly, and sourcing materials sustainably. Fans and artists are increasingly demanding greener events, and many venues are following suit. HOST: That's great to hear. But there must be challenges in implementing these practices. Can you share some of those? GUEST: Indeed, there can be financial constraints, resistance to change, and logistical challenges. However, with the right knowledge and strategies, these hurdles can be overcome, and the benefits often outweigh the costs. HOST: That's inspiring. Now, looking to the future, where do you see the events industry headed in terms of sustainability? GUEST: I believe we'll see more regulations requiring sustainability, increased fan and artist demand, and a shift towards circular economy principles. Our course is designed to equip professionals with the skills to navigate these changes. HOST: Well, Sarah, thank you for your insights and for all the work you're doing to make the events industry more sustainable. GUEST: My pleasure, thanks for having me.
